Job Description:
Weidner Apartment Homes is currently searching for an Architect to work out of the corporate office in Kirkland. The Architect will work with engineers, design teams and other architects on a variety of construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
Performing administrative and professional architectural work by managing projects from inception through construction.
Providing leadership to the project and the project design team consisting of architects, engineers and consultants in the design and documentation of construction projects.
Responsible for supervising and participating in preliminary studies and estimates of proposed building/planning projects, and in the design and preparation of complete alteration or repair plans for existing buildings and new construction.
Providing continuous oversight and direction on 20 - 30 projects of varying complexity as well as varied stages of development. Handles coordination of, submittal of and approvals for permitting in multiple states and the various municipalities within.
Daily management of consultants, including civil, structural, mep, architectural, soils, landscape architects and project contractors.
Working with acquisitions department to provide preliminary feasibility to serve as an evaluation tool for potential purchases.
Handling coordination of, submittal and approvals for permitting in multiple states and the various municipalities within.
Working with various municipalities and consultants to modify existing zoning standards. Also working with municipalities to bring property/codes in line with market driven needs.
Act as educational resource for municipalities to provide insight for how multifamily projects affect regional growth and planning.
Prepares a series of sketches or conceptual designs that show the general building design and the site.
Visiting sites to observe that work in progress, respond to contractors questions and requests in a timely manner, review and approve the contractor's applications for payment, requested change orders, review substitutions, and generally keep owner informed for the project's progress.
Maintaining licensure and continuing education requirements in all jurisdictions covered with scopes of work.
Qualifications include:
10 years experience as an Architect with 5 years experience in multi-family housing
A valid Washington State Architecture Stamp
Excellent time management skills
Ability to travel up to 50% of time
